Modica PGI chocolate is a typical product of the city of Modica, located in the province of Ragusa, in Sicily.

It is an artisanal chocolate that has obtained Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) recognition at European level.

What makes Modica PGI chocolate unique is its traditional production method, which dates back to the time of the ancient Aztecs.

The processing takes place cold, without the use of refining basins or added cocoa butter.

This process preserves the original characteristics of the ingredients used, such as cocoa and cane sugar.

Modica PGI chocolate has a grainy consistency and an intense, strong flavour.

It is available in several variations, including dark chocolate, milk chocolate and chocolate flavored with ingredients such as chili pepper, cinnamon or vanilla.

This chocolate is highly appreciated by artisan chocolate lovers for its quality and authenticity.

Recent studies have confirmed that chocolate, in addition to being good, is also good for our body’s health (provided it is consumed in modest and above all controlled quantities.)

The sample of patients who participated in the study demonstrated how by consuming 10 g of Modica Chocolate per day, the flexibility of the arteries was improved and above all it promoted cardiovascular activity.

The reasons that lead to being able to enjoy these benefits are certainly the cold processing of cocoa which allows the beneficial properties of this product to be kept unaltered.

It is often used in the preparation of traditional Sicilian desserts, such as cannoli or cassata.
